11-4-2019 – Kuala Lumpur
The closed door meeting between 3 main vape organizations/ associations of Malaysia including Malaysia E-Vaporizers & Tobacco Alternative Association (MEVTA), Malaysia Retail Electronic Cigarette Association (MRECA) and Dewan Perniagaan Vape Malaysia (DPVM) was fruitful as all parties were willing to share information and help each other in assisting the Malaysia government to regulate the vaping industry.

The meeting was attended by the respective president of the organizations/ associations. Sharing info and working together shall be their priority, hopefully to work together with the Healthy Ministry in drafting the new law. They are in the talks about forming a consortium where every party will work together to chip in ideas and resources.

The 3 hours closed-door discussion was attended by a few prominent vape industry players who were there to share their ideas and experience. The purpose of this meeting was to come out with ideas to work together with the Health Ministry’s drafting of the new law Tobacco Control Act. This new law will be introduced by the end of the year which includes e-cigarettes, vaping and the entire supply chain.

The possibility of an alliance between the 3 vape organizations/ associations?
All 3 components agree to meet up again later this month, and will provide more input onto the table.
